The Raw Cotton Selvedge is Naked & Famous Denim’s slubby celebration of cotton in its natural form: undyed, unbleached – just the warm off-white of the cotton itself.
But this is no plain denim. Huge slubs run through the 16oz fabric creating a texture that’s uncommon in indigo and maybe unseen in a color like this. There are even little brown spots – called, “trash” in the industry because, traditionally, that’s what they were – that are real cotton seeds left intact during cotton processing to give the denim depth and character.
A thick roughout suede leather patch complements the warmth and texture of the denim, while a thick, bright red selvedge ID provides stark contrast. A hardcore denimhead’s fabric in a summery hue.
Update: April 8, 2022
We realized that the photos and video we posted of the Raw Cotton Slub were taken using a production sample which used a lighter colored suede patch which differs from the brown suede patch that was used for production. We’re very sorry for any confusion this may have caused, and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
